Ascendants

Ascendants are the citizens charged with the upper administrative and protective functions of Aetherion. Roughly four percent of the population, drawn from the Ordinal class on the basis of aptitude scores reviewed by the Ascendant Academy in a citizen's sixteenth year.

An Ordinal selected into the Academy is reissued under the Ascendant cohort prefix and registered into the Academy's home district. The elevation is administered as a clean civic transition: a new role, a new sector, a new circle of associates.

Ascendants serve in counter-anomaly enforcement, civic-records administration, environmental coordination, and inter-sector logistics. The civic services available to them are commensurate with their responsibility.
